The Gecko Effect - is a concept born out of many different events throughout the life of its creator.
Denys St Pierre was born and educated in Sussex, England. He
moved from Brighton with his wife Sarah to Margaret River, Western Australia in 2005.
Denys cut his teeth in the real estate business before moving into
the Wine Industry and eventually into Hospitality, managing a Resort in the south-west.
The unforgiving nature of hospitality management spurred him into making some serious lifestyle changes, bringing a fresh and exciting challenge in the process - to become his own boss and create something from scratch.
Denys liked to keep fit but with the little free time afforded him by
the hospitality industry he found it difficult to maintain a regular training schedule. That was all to change when opportunity knocked and a vacant retail space became available in his home town.
Denys and Sarah, who was pregnant with their first child Imogen at the time, sold what they could to start fresh.
The fitness retail industry lay at their feet and off they went on a new uncharted journey into the unknown.
What was clear to our happily married entrepreneurs was that there was no retail outlet dedicated to discerning fitness enthusiasts.
With the same hum drum high street sport stores copied and pasted up and down the state, it seemed high time for something a little different, something with style & attitude.
With quality & service taking precident over volume & profit margins - a business model was formed and a new concept in fitness retail
was born.
Today The Gecko Effect continues to be a unique retail experience.
